About Your's Truly
I'm Marcus. I'm awkward in front of the camera. I laugh at my own jokes.
I call Rochester, New York my home. I was born and raised here. It's a good place to rest my head after a trip and it's a better place to clog my arteries.
I'm marrying my best friend and co-photographer extraordinaire.
More Than Photographs
Every so often, my mom takes the old photo albums out. My siblings, mom and I gather around these pictures of the past — spread out across the living room floor. We laugh, reminisce, sometimes we cry. We get to see the faces of our loved ones that are no longer with us. We get to see the crazy Halloween costumes we thought were cool when we were young. We get to see Christmas once again through a child's eyes. Going through these photographs always brings us unspeakable joy.
I am privileged with the task of taking photographs. I don't always realize the importance of this task. I get lost in the joy of being creative and connecting with the people I photograph. It's not until much later I experience the gravity of its significance. I've documented a bride's father-daughter dance. It was beautiful. A few short weeks later I discover that was their last dance. The bride's father passed suddenly. It saddens me that such events do occur. The only form of consolation I was able to offer were the final photographs taken of her father. On that day he was full of life and love. That's the way he is to be remembered.
Your photographs are not to be taken for granted. They are to be cherished and prized — held
close to your heart. They are what will remain of your loved ones long after they're gone. They're the days you don't want to forget. They're the moments in which you want to return.
I'm humbled to serve my couples. I'm honored to make more than photographs.
